The True Colors Fund has partnered with Cyndi’s Tony Award® winning Broadway show Kinky Boots to create a youth program that empowers homeless and at-risk youth in NYC and around the country to learn about and immerse themselves into the career opportunities that exist in the theatre industry. The Raise You Up Community Youth Program provides young people with a holistic day of shadowing professionals in all areas of the theatre world (backstage, box office, marketing, press, onstage, etc.).
This past week, we were joined by 13 extraordinary young people from the Center Youth program in NYC for a one-of-a-kind experience that included an extensive behind-the-scenes peek of the show with visits to O&M press, SpotCo Advertising, Type A Marketing, and the theatre company management team.
Participants got to learn the choreography for one of the numbers in Kinky Boots, and we ended the night with an amazing performance of Kinky Boots and a talkback with the cast of the show!
