What is At the Intersections?
At the Intersections is a collaborative resource on LGBTQ youth homelessness and the intersecting issues that contribute to it. At the Intersections provides an up-to-date summary of the challenges facing LGBTQ homeless youth and how our understanding of the community has evolved in the last decade. By collaborating with the National LGBTQ Task Force and other partners, we’re able to provide a multifaceted snapshot of the issue. Some of our most important collaborators are LGBTQ youth with lived experience of homelessness, who are willing to share their brave stories.
What can people expect from the updated version?
We are constantly changing and learning new ways to overcome our challenges. And things have changed significantly since At the Intersections was first released two years ago. That’s why we’re making sure that the new At the Intersections is the most comprehensive resource on LGBTQ youth homelessness ever. Along with updated information, we also want to make the resource more accessible. With this update, we are taking a different approach in how we deliver our message – making our information and stories relatable to the average reader.
Over 50 individuals and organizations were involved in updating At the Intersections. This number includes the young people who shared their stories, the youth peer reviewers who identified trends and similarities between stories, and folks from partner organizations who work every day toward implementing positive changes for homeless LGBTQ youth.
