Impact Summit | Letter to Your Boss
In order to attend the Impact Summit, is your boss going to need some convincing? No worries – we’ve got you covered! Feel free to adapt the following letter, which explains all the reasons why you should join us in Washington, DC this September!
Hey [Manager’s Name],
I’m excited to continue the work of [Name of organization] as we address youth homelessness. In order to strengthen the skills I’ll need to make sure our work is inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth, I’d love to attend the upcoming Impact Summit, taking place in Washington, DC on September 4-5. 2019. This will also allow me to generate new ideas to share with the rest of the team. What do you say?
The True Colors United Impact Summit offers over 20 sessions exploring innovative approaches and nationally coordinated efforts to address LGBTQ youth homelessness. Session themes at this year’s summit include:
- Health and wellness
- Youth collaboration
- Technology
- Racial equity
- Gender equity
- Juvenile justice
- Child welfare
- And a whole lot more!
Service providers, policy makers, researchers, funders, and young people from all over the country will be there. I think this conference is a great opportunity for us to connect with others doing the important work of addressing youth homelessness and bring back best practices to the organization.
My attendance will cost about $XX with travel, hotel and registration for the Impact Summit. The early bird registration rate includes my entire participation in the conference, including some meals.
When I return, I will provide a post-conference report with key takeaways to share with our team and recommendations that we can start implementing immediately.
Thanks in advance for considering my request. I’d love to chat more about this opportunity (including potential discounts we might be able to secure as members, scholarship opportunities, or by purchasing tickets early) and answer any questions you might have!
