Supreme Court Allows Trump’s Transgender Military Ban

Recently, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) granted the Trump administration’s request to begin implementing its discriminatory ban of military service by transgender people, putting the honorable service of thousands of troops and our nation’s military readiness on the line.

WIth an estimated 15,000 transgender people currently serving honorably in the military, this SCOTUS decision will have a ripple effect throughout our armed forces and impact thousands of teams that rely on these service members. Additionally, current and retired senior leaders across all four military branches have decried the ban, recognizing that the service of transgender people benefits the military and has no negative impact on unit cohesion or morale.

Traditionally, the military sets a core standard of unity and acceptance for much of American society, with implications extending far past military bases and recruitment offices. This recent action is an attack on transgender people around the nation.

Now, it is more important than ever for Congress to act immediately in defending thousands of brave and honorable transgender service members. The proposed ban has already been condemned by members of both parties in the House and the Senate.
