We asked Paulina: What is the most important visible sign of inclusion or visible way to communicate LGBTQ acceptance that youth look for in a program, classroom, etc. and why?
Here’s what she had to say:
I believe that the most important visible sign of inclusion is a safe space sticker. Safe space stickers communicate that the establishment and the people there are supportive and understanding of LGBT youth.
Whenever I enter a place I’ve never been to before and I see a sticker, I immediately feel much more comfortable and happy. I know that I am in a safe environment where I can be myself, and I no longer have to worry about whether or not I can talk about anything related to my sexual orientation or gender identity.
Do you have safe space stickers posted at your location? If not, order yours (for free) here.
