It’s Pride Month, and June 2018 marks the True Colors Fund’s 10th birthday.

Can you believe it? 10 years ago, my eyes were opened to the fact that 40% of all youth who experience homelessness in America are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ). Since then, we’ve accomplished so much – and you’ve been right there with us, helping us make the world a better place for young people. I can’t thank you enough for standing with us for all these years.

A lot has changed from 2008 to 2018, but there’s still so much left to do. That’s why I’m asking you make a donation and help improve the lives of LGBTQ young people for the next ten years – and beyond.

What will the world look like for LGBTQ young people in 2028? I can’t wait for us to find out. To celebrate our 10-year anniversary, I’m personally matching all donations up to $10,000. Every dollar you donate  – $1, $10, or even $100 – will be doubled. By investing in the True Colors Fund, we’re investing in America’s next generation of LGBTQ young people.

One thing I’ve learned over and over again is that service providers want to be safe and welcoming for LGBTQ youth, but don’t always have the knowledge or resources to do so. That makes it harder for these youth to get the support they need. The True Colors Fund fills that space by offering free training and resources on how to meet the unique needs of LGBTQ young people experiencing homelessness. We also advocate in government and media to help ensure critical funding and services for all youth, and create opportunities for youth who have experienced homelessness to be key leaders in ending the problem.

People often think that, because they don’t work at a service provider, they can’t make a difference. That’s how I felt 10 years ago! The reality is: everyone can make a difference! Whether you know it or not, you’re a part of the solution. That’s why I’m asking you to make a donation today, and help us create a world where no young person ever experiences homelessness because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

We all share the same world. Now what will you do to make it a better one?

All my best,

PS: Don’t forget that all donations will be matched! This is your chance to double your impact and help us make the next ten years as awesome as the first.
