On October 27, 2014 at The Scholastic Auditorium in New York City, the True Colors Fund, The Trevor Project, Lambda Legal, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, and GLSEN partnered to host the second annual State of Out Youth, a panel discussion with LGBTQ youth from across the country about the most pressing issues facing them today.
The event was broadcast live online, and streamed by groups and individuals across the world! Immediately after an electrifying closing number (featuring some of New York City’s best house and ballroom performers, and choreographed by Jonovia Milan), RJ Aguiar, of YouTube fame, hosted a post-event Google Hangout. The discussion featured storytelling, Q&A, and in-depth conversations with panelists, young people from the event, and performance poet Ethan Walker Smith!
Full video recordings of the panel and post-event discussion can be viewed at www.stateofoutyouth.org.
Throughout the night, audiences, panelists, and event staff alike engaged in conversation online. Check out some highlights of the evening below! The event may be over, but the conversation is far from finished. Continue the discussion on Facebook and Twitter using #OutYouthForum!
