This Pride, We’re Empowering Change!

When I think about what Pride means, to me it represents a form of political rebellion.

As we celebrate Pride this season, let us reflect on the courageous, too-often forgotten individuals who paved the way for the LGBTQ+ community’s hard-won rights and freedoms. The Stonewall Riots of 1969 ignited a spark that grew into a powerful movement, challenging societal norms and demanding equality, dignity, and acceptance. However, the fight for LGBTQ+ rights is far from over.

Today, a staggering number of LGBTQ+ youth face the harsh reality of homelessness, often due to discrimination, family rejection, and a lack of support systems. In fact, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s 2023 Point-in-Time Count revealed a 15 percent increase in homelessness among youth and young adults since 2022. Even more alarming is the astounding 28 percent increase in homelessness among transgender and gender non-conforming youth—nearly twice that of the overall youth and young adult population.

This is not merely a statistical trend; these are real lives affected by a toxic and violent culture war perpetuated by radical conservatives in the media and our political system. True Colors United is at the forefront of this battle, providing vital resources, advocacy, and support to ensure that no young person is left behind. But we can not continue to do this work without YOU!

Make a difference TODAY!

By supporting True Colors United during this Pride season, you can play a crucial role in creating a world where LGBTQ+ youth can thrive, free from the fear of homelessness and the trauma it inflicts. Your contribution will help fund essential programs, services, and initiatives that empower these young individuals, offering them a safe haven, access to education, job training, and the tools they need to build a brighter future.

Let us honor both the legacy of those who fought for our rights and those who continue to lead the movement today by extending a supportive hand to the next generation of LGBTQ+ youth. Together, we can ensure that the spirit of Pride lives on, not just in celebration but also in action, creating a more inclusive and equitable society for all.

With gratitude,
