Can you believe 2018 is almost over? So much has happened, and time and time again you stood by our side and helped us push the needle forward on preventing and ending youth homelessness. Here’s a little recap of our recent advocacy work:

In June, we released the State Index on Youth Homelessness – a first-of-its-kind resource that evaluates all 50 states and the District of Columbia on their efforts to prevent and end youth homelessness. The State Index is already helping state policymakers, local leaders, and everyday advocates improve their work to end youth homelessness. Through the State Index, we can equip each state with the tools they need to ensure that all young people can reach their full potential. We’ll need your help in the coming year to update the Index, equip advocates with the tools they need to create change, and hold our leaders accountable.

On April 25, we hosted our fourth annual #TrueColorsDay to raise awareness about this vital issue. Thanks to the hard work of our supporters, we reached a whopping 32 million people online this year! From Indonesia to Panama, folks from nearly 70 countries tweeted and posted snaps of their “unselfie” signs to show the world that they stand with LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness. In addition, 11 communities throughout the country issued official proclamations declaring the day #TrueColorsDay.

Now that 2018 is winding down, we need to keep this momentum going and hold this country accountable for upholding the health and dignity of ALL young people. Are you up for it? Make your gift today.
