We connected with Tyler to share the news and chat about what he hopes to get out of his Summit experience.
Why are you excited about attending the 40 to None Summit?
I’m super excited about attending the 40 to None Summit this year because I was not able to attend last year and I know that a lot has developed in the interim. I also recently spent two weeks in the United Kingdom doing research on LGBTQ youth homelessness and I am eager to share what I learned.
What are some goals that you hope to accomplish by attending the 40 to None Summit?
By attending the Summit this year, I hope to learn new programming strategies and best practices implemented by other communities that are working to combat LGBTQ youth homelessness. I also hope to learn about new national funding opportunities.
What motivates you to be committed to the issue of LGBTQ youth homelessness?
Aside from identifying as part of the community, I am motivated and committed to the issue of LGBTQ youth homelessness because a young person should not be more likely to experience homeless than others just based on their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. This is not a reality that I am willing to accept and I am determined to work hard to make systematic changes that will actually take us from 40 percent to NONE.
