Tonight (October 27) at at 7pm, the True Colors Fund, The Trevor Project, Lambda Legal, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, and GLSEN are teaming up to host the second annual State of Out Youth at The Scholastic Auditorium in New York City.
The event will explore today’s most pressing issues for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. The panel will be made up entirely of LGBTQ young people from across the country. The discussion will be moderated by Shontay Richardson, a panelist from last year’s event. Our Executive Director Gregory Lewis had this to say:
“The True Colors Fund and our partners believe that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender young people should be at the forefront of the issues that affect them. In order for all of us to create an inclusive and affirming world for our youth, we need to hear and learn from the experts – young people themselves. That’s what State of Out Youth is all about – young people creating the future they want to see.”
Can’t make it to NYC? The event will be streamed live online, and downloadable viewing kits will be provided for users, with a targeted focus on LGBT centers, youth and student groups, families of LGBTQ youth, social service providers, and educators. Immediately following at 8:30pm ET, YouTube personality RJ Aguiar will be hosting a post-event Google Hangout, joined by performance poet Ethan Walker Smith.
