Know who you are, know what you love, and go for it. The power of self-worth and self-encouragement is unmatched and unmistakable.
Cameron knows this and puts it to use each and every day to achieve their goals, remain positive, and influence change for others.
What do you think about when you wake up in the morning?
The first thing I think about in the morning is what I should cook for breakfast.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to use my own insights and experiences as a queer non-binary, formerly homeless, state-dependent youth to change the lives of youth who are experiencing some of the same hardships and discrimination I did.
What is it like to be you?
It’s a challenge everyday to be me, but a rewarding one – one in which I just have to keep reminding myself why I’m doing this. All the adorable kids I get to work with and help because of my ability to care and empathize for them… that’s what keeps me going.
Is there anything else that you want us to tell people?
My advice would be find a reason to hang on despite all the discrimination you’ll face. Hold to a dream to reach out and work toward. And just keep waking up and working toward it. And keep smiling. And laughing. And remember you’re never alone. <- TWEET THIS!

The 40 of the Forty list gives lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth who have experiences with homelessness and/or housing instability a chance to speak for themselves. The young people on the list were nominated by homeless youth service providers, social workers, educators, individuals, and other folks across the country. Over the course of forty weeks, we’ll be releasing full length interviews with each young person featured on our list. Nominate a young person today!
